| May 24, 2003 - after singing Killing Moon with Ian McCulloch of Echo and the Bunnymen fame on the Mike Bullard show. |
| Well
this sure has been an interesting week!! I got a call from Deb (my publicist)
on Thursday asking what my plans were for Friday afternoon/night?? It
turned out that Ian McCulloch (of Echo and the Bunnymen, writer of The
Killing Moon) was going on the Mike Bullard show. I was freaking!! I thought
she was just telling me, so that I would get tickets to the show. ............BETTER!
The show had graciously mentioned my performance on the show a few weeks
ago.....blah blah blah....., and to make a long story even loooooonger...............I
GOT TO SING KILLING MOON WITH IAN McCULLOCH!! How cool is that?? It was
all very last minute. They pulled me in to do the sound check with him,
and I would have been completely happy just swaying along to him singing,
but it all worked out sooooo much better. (except of course that Michael
transposed the song to an A minor for my cd, and Ian does it in E minor
so it was a little out of my range, but who cares??) Anyway, to make matters
even cooler, Ian invited Michael and I out for drinks with the band. The
band was very nice, even though I couldn't understand them all that well,
with their crazy Liverpool accents. I had a wicked time! Ian gave me a
copy of his new CD "Slideling" and it's really worth getting.
(of course with his voice, he could make 'Rubber Ducky' sound cool) Needless
to say it was a night I'll never forget. I've been pretty busy the past
couple of weeks, but I'm still trying to sort out a date for an early
July show. I'll keep you posted.
